I am an OK veg gardener but every year end up with toms, climbers etc flopping over because I have tried and failed to jury-rig a support structure from chopsticks, random branches and tape. Happy to spend money but don't know what to buy, and when I google everything that comes up is from Temu.

Any advice?

I use bamboo sticks to hold up my tomatoes with little wire hoops to tie it all together. Last year I got even taller bamboo sticks and used twine to tie them together for the beans to grow up, which seemed to work (when I'd dealt with the slug problem). The bamboo sticks were just from B&Q - I looked like something out of an old school farce walking home carrying them, but they're easy and last a few years!

I use the same as PenCreed above. It works and it looks ok.

Hop on youtube for some inspiration, and some bamboo and twine later you will be sorted.

I bought some wooden pyramids from home bargains. I didn't assemble them, just used each one as a wall trellis as cheaper than buying individual sturdy trellises!

If you have allotments nearby they may have a shop where you can buy bamboo canes to support your beans.
you can make a teepee style or a long row.
I grow my runner and climbing French beans in large pots using bamboo canes.

Good luck, I love this time of year, so much to look forward to.

Thanks all! I've been to the B&Q website and found some bamboo sticks, will have a go.

Every year, maybe it's finally my time Grin
