What do you think of this? Can’t really afford a big sofa and table at the minute so was thinking to get this temporarily but does it look cheap?

Looks fine to me.

It looks fine. However, just as an aside, I went round to an elderly friend’s house recently and was very struck by how comfortable her cheap old (80s/90s) plastic chairs and - even better - fold up sunbed were. If you don’t have a lot of money, you could do worse.

It is nice enough, but I don't really think the grey co-ordinates very well with the rest of the garden.

SuperTroopers · 01/05/2025 14:54

I agree about the grey but it doesn’t look cheap.

What's it for? I know that sounds like an obvious question but do you currently have something like that that you sit on but isn't as nice, or are you buying it because it's what you see lots of in gardens? Personally it looks a bit staged and uncomfortable and unusable. But if it works for you that's fine.

I would go for a brown/wicker/beige colour way though, your red brick is lovely and something to complement that would really make the most of it.

Sorry guys, I should have stated the picture isn’t my own, the furniture has t arrived I only ordered it yesterday, I did order the grey as I have black/grey decking

We only moved in January so haven’t got any furniture in the garden at the minute, we rush bought this with the weather getting nice

My parents have the same (or very similar anyway) and it is very comfortable.

CharnwoodFire · 01/05/2025 21:18

The chairs and stuff look fine. I think the artificial turf looks a bit tacky though (sorry x)

Sorry it’s not actually my garden or photo I was just using as an example

I have similar, bought in lockdown when not much was available. It still looks good. I found a pair of matching square footstools in Aldi or Lidl which are a great addition to put your feet up or as an extra table

Flightfromhell · 02/05/2025 18:38

If you like it, that's the main thing - everyone has different tastes, and it's so hard to tell from a pic whether it's good quality for the price you paid.

Nourishinghandcream · 03/05/2025 17:57

TBH it does not look comfortable to me but will defer to people who have actually sat in it. The arms look too thin & angular to be comfortable.
Again, not a fan of the grey but if it matches your decking then it will no doubt be fine.

Unfortunately it is not my cup of tea.☹️

Theoldwrinkley · 03/05/2025 19:25

Look on freecycle. Always garden and tables there. And it's fine for a year or 2, and you can put the money saved towards buying something you really like later (and re-freecycle the older furniture).

GeorgianaM · 03/05/2025 22:24

It does g look very comfortable for general relaxing but would be fine for sitting upright when eating al fresco.
