Tall plants that will grow in small pots in a sunny spot?

I have a pathway along the back of my house, and it’s not particularly wide. I would like to have a line of pots that will hide pipe work that is approximately 1m above ground at its highest point.
Are there any plants that grown tall, but don’t mind a narrow pot? Also, I don’t have much time to work in the garden, so low maintenance would be a bonus. I have some bamboo in pots at the moment, but it’s a bit straggly.

Cosmos will work for the summer, do you need all year round cover?

@Jammymarethank you. I would prefer all year round, if possible. But could swap pots around if necessary. I guess the winter months are less important because I won’t be spending time out there staring at the ugly pipes!

So you could try an evergreen climber like winter flowering honeysuckle if you could fit a larger pot at one end and train it along. When does it get the sun?

Euonymus will do well there.

You really want evergreens I would have thought.

These two do change though out the year and give a display of colour.
Pieris
Nandina

Holly would work, especially a variegated variety

Cordyline, spiky, cactusey look

Box if you fancy trying your hand at some topiary!
