Does anyone put houseplants outside in summer? And if so which like it?

I’m trying to create a tropical/jungle feel on a sunny veranda . I can create a bit of shade but although it’s west facing can get a bit windy. It’s also gets hot on a sunny day.

im tempted to put out a big Kentia Palm for the summer and maybe an Alocasia.

would appreciate any thoughts or ideas.

The only house plants I put out in summer are my citruses - an orange & a lime. Hadn’t considered putting any others out.

I would like to but it tends to bring slugs and snails into the house later.

Yes - my aeoniums and tradescantia have been out for a few weeks. I just potted out begonia luxurians. I will also put the monstera, crotons and dracena outside when it’s warmer - I think they need 15 degrees or so. If you have Colocasia or Alocasia they can also go outside, in fact some of them may be hardy depending where you live.

Never again after my ficus got an ant infestation I couldn’t get rid of

My avocado plant grown from a pip has summer breaks in the garden and loves them!

Citrus and avocado here, too. Actually, the citrus are out all year, because they're too big to come in now, but they're in a sunnier but more exposed place for summer. Also a loquacious. I also have a curry leaf (murraya koenigii) but that really mustn't get too cold, so it's only out ftom the end of May till start of September. My banana went out gor several smmers, but it died in the end.

The yucca also live out all year, and still don't die, bastard things. People give them to me, but I am not a fan at all.

I don't have many proper houseplants though.

Yup, my succulents and cactus are out already on the patio table; the alocasia will go out when it's a bit warmer.

Thank you.. i haven’t had any success with aeoniums anywhere but might try out there. I also hadn’t considered the pests, but may be ok because the actual garden isn’t too close.

I was going to say my Boston Fern does ok outside in the summer but it does need dappled shade.
