What’s the deal with peace lily’s?

You won’t be surprised to hear that I can’t keep plants alive. I bought a peace lily plant and after a week it flopped all over the place and I presumed dead. Stuck it in a sink with a little bit of water and it transformed! Perked up looked beautiful 4 big flowers. Lovely. A little while later ‘dead’ again, stuck in the sink again - looked a million dollars! The thing is, the ‘dying’ seems to happen over night - how often should I be watering the thing? How do I prevent it from doing the dramatic ‘dying’ of thirst thing? I’ve got form for overwatering so want to get it right. And is this normal for this kind of plant. Thanks

They are very dramatic when underwatered but do recover fast. They are pretty unkillable so dont worry too much. I would probably water once a week.

It is normal but ideally you would notice when it starts to go floppier and water it before it collapses

This is why I love peace lilies - they’re such drama queens! I always just water mine wherever they start flopping.

Thanks all!
I had no idea plants had personalities! :)

Get into the habit of picking it up every couple of days and gauging its weight. One day you'll pick it up and it will be unexpectedly light. That's your cue for watering.

I wouldn't say it's dying I think they're just a bit dramatic when they're thirsty, but it makes it easy to care for as it's so obvious when it needs a drink 😂 . I'm not great with house plants but my peace Lily has thrived. I've found it likes 'banana water'. I eat my banana, chuck the skin in some water and then chuck the peace Lily in.

It might need a bigger pot, so hold more moisture for a bit longer.

I love my peace lily because it let's me know when it needs to be watered....avoiding me overwatering it. I''ve had mine for about 20 years. It stopped flowering for about 8 of those until I split it and reported the two halves. The half in the original pot is going strong, began flowering again and is enormous but the other half sadly didn't enjoy the move.

Beware, they don't like being re potted! I have several in my bathroom in the shade..I re potted one a couple of years ago, this one survived, the other one didn't. Oddly enough,my friend also re potted hers and it died.
