What's the best thing you've bought for your greenhouse?

Friend has just got a greenhouse for the first time. I'd like to buy her a present for it.

Any suggestions?

I have lovely little solar powered lights. They really make me smile.

Roof windows that open automatically when it’s hot which means I don’t have to fret about my plants overheating. I don’t think it’s something I’d buy someone else though, unless you know what greenhouse they have.

A max/min thermometer, invaluable to check overnight temperatures, and useful for daytime too.

Bunting, chandelier, Alice in wonderland clock, pretty tins and fairy lights … however, if you don’t want to copy me, I agree with the max/min thermometer and would add solar fans, a radio and pens for writing on glass

So many things - a comfy chair the best by a country mile. Otherwise a potting shoe, some storage containers & small watering cans, (I have about 4 children’s haw sprinkler ones that are great). A mini Bluetooth speaker is good too.

Could you advise of a decent quality max min thermometer, please

govee do ones that connect to your phone so warn you about frosts. Also second automatic vents. I’d be wary of potting stuff - my greenhouse is 100% plants only, I have a potting shed, but a delivery of excellent compost might be very appreciated. The other thing in my greenhouse that I absolutely swear by is my solar powered irrigation kit, but that might be a bit generous!

I've just replaced my max min thermometer with a weather station, it does the same job but you can check the greenhouse temperature and humidity without leaving the house which is a bonus on a cold dark night. I got a basic Liorque one from Amazon for £20. https://amzn.eu/d/3nPLsyK

If you want something simpler, when I got my greenhouse 20 years ago someone gave me a pretty tin with a hole in the lid and a ball of string inside. It has been in almost daily use since then.

I would reiterate pens which write on glass. Easy to memo, make notes, add reminders when you are in there

My greenhouse is only tiny but automatic vents, proper shelves and watering mats have made a lot of difference.

Good plan, as long as the dog can read! 😆

Adding shade cloths to my essentials. Cheap ones but making a big difference even during putting them up today

My ddog is actually very smart.. She trained my dd to move her bed whenever she needed more sun on her!! And she has learned how to open my new flip lid bin. Not bad for 14+!!
