Bags of top soil

I’ve found a load of top soil in the garage. I have no idea how long it’s been there as I can’t remember buying it! But the bags are sealed and intact.

Is it worth adding it to the beds? Will it give any nutrition or is it just a filler? I think it’s probably worth adding it as it’s not doing anything in the garage, but if it won’t add anything, I won’t bother putting it on my list of jobs.

I wouldn't use it on its own as it just tends to make your soil heavier and denser. You will have to mix it with compost for aeration and nutrients.

If it were me I would either use a top soil/compost mix for filling a raised bed, or spread it around on beds as a mulch in the autumn so it had time to break down a bit over the winter.

Thank you, I'm glad I asked! I have compost in my hot bin so I can do that.
