Trying to identify a particular variety of aster!

At least I think it was an aster...
I saw it in a planting scheme last summer along with some grasses... It was a particularly large flowered variety but I can't seem to find it online by googling 'large aster'. Can anyone help?

Any other clues? Height? Colour? If it was a large flowered daisy type flower could it have been an Echinacea?

Hi, no definitely not an echinacea. 99% sure it was an aster , same shade of purple with yellow centre. Can't quite remember height but the flowers were about 5cm across.

I've only seen the daisy sized flower one before so it really struck me.

Try googling with Asteraceae instead of Aster, and including 5cm

Aster x frikartii has flowers to 8cm

Great, thank you. Id not had much luck googling but that variety looks like it would fit the bill, thank you!
