The whole garden or a section of it? (am not a gardner btw, just nosey!)

What sort of soil, where is the sun, what sort of veg do you want to grow is probably what I would think about first.

chalky soil. just a bit of it.
want to grow intersting vegetables. like purple carrots and giant pumpkins.
my plan is to get the DDs interested then they'll be eating the produce before they realise it.
DH will be surprised. he's on a chaps weekend away. last time he went away I dug a pond!

Courgettes are great, huge plants and my dcs now love them

carrots and peas, dcs love podding the peas

digging up potatoes is very exciting but you need to hurry up

anything really, the excitement for children to eat what they have just picked is great

what about strawberries?

if your soil is stony you will get very interesting carrots - wierd shapes and sizes, a real hoot.

good time of year to buy tomatoes - cherry ones easily grown in sunny pots, the dcs can water them and eat them off the plant. Sungold are wonderful.
