Helleborus niger 'Christmas Carol Plant

I've bought one of these as gift for my mum however it's started looking a a bit sad and droopy. The flower buds haven't opened either. I don't know the first thing about gardening/plants. Could anyone give me any advice on how to revive it?

Keep it cool, it’s an outdoor plant, not one for your living room (though don’t put it straight outside if it’s been indoors up till now. Feel the soil. If it’s dry, give it a good water - plunge the pot up to the rim in water for half an hour, then take it out and let it drain. See if it perks up over the next couple of days
