End of Season sale - B&Q

I was at B&Q today. All their seeds are 50% off as are some of their plants. I got a 2L ensete banana for £6 (from £12).

Cool! I love end of season sales, got lovely pink salvias half off.

I’m curious, what are you planning to do with your ensete over winter? Is it hardy when it’s that small?

I already have one ensete. We bring it indoors and treat it like a houseplant over winter (South Central Scotland so minus temperatures pretty much guaranteed). When it stops raining I will take a photo for you.

thank you! I have an ensete too, but I’m in London and it stays outside year round. I planted it last year and it’s absolutely massive now - I can’t imagine digging it up, the trunk is really thick.

I love the idea of an ensete house plant, but I would need a huge pot…

It's been absolutely battered by the wind recently but this is my old ensete and my new one. I'll probably plant the new one a similar sized pot in the Spring. I'd like to straw/fleece wrap it over winter but I don't think it would survive.
