Slug pellets

Hi , I've had a few new plants that have been completely decimated this year by slugs and snails . I really want to bombard them with slugs pellets but I now have hedgehogs in the garden so obviously I can't, don't want to use them . Do any of you have proven slug/snail deterrents that actually work before I go down the wormhole of expensive remedies .
Many thanks 🤩

Encourage frogs and toads by having a small wildlife pond. Sink a bucket into the ground and put some bricks in so wildlife can get out. fill with rainwater. i have practically no slugs at all....though they clearly dont like snails.

There was someone on the radio a few weeks ago who said there are many types of slugs in the UK but only two eat live plants, all the others eat decaying plant material, which helps break down organic materials.

Slug killer doesn't differentiate so you by using it you are committing slug armageddon unnecessarily and damaging the ecology of your garden.

Good morning , what a winner , the beer traps worked amazingly well . I used shallow take away sauce dishes and a left over fosters beer .
Thanks for all your tips , slug free plants ate on their way 😁

We’re doing quite well this year with nematodes, beer traps and sacrificial marigolds. Also a layer of net curtain at the bottom o pf every container seems to have helped a lot.

Don’t the hedgehogs eat them ? I have cats who like the snails probably because they are too lazy to catch anything that moves quicker.

We had loads of slugs on the lawn , I sometimes move them into the borders they don’t eat the plants there.

They always say that yet they want you plant for pollinators.

Well if the slugs and snails eat all your young plants then there is nothing left to flower and be pollinated.

Nobody kills the slugs in the wild. Roadsides are full of colour at the moment
