Just found 3 giant caterpillars stripping our apple tree. Picked off 3. Not a lot of leaves left. 🥹

They are, but do you have anywhere you could relocate them to? They will also eat willow trees.

Apples are their main food plant. Tbh I think your trees will be fine - we need moths, they are major pollinators as well as food for other species & beautiful too.
Other food plants for the caterpillars are sallow, apple, crab apples, poplar & aspen.

Oh, you are lucky! Treasure them. The apple tree will cope. They’ll be going off to pupate soon
