I made comfrey tea - oh my word the pong

We have just taken over an abandoned allotment and asked nice allotment neighbour what a plant was and they said comfrey- and then told me about making comfrey tea fertilizer.
It has only been 2 weeks since I put the comfrey in water in a lidded bin but oh my what a stink! I feel like I have made a chemical weapon!
I went all in with an 80 litre container too!
I am really not looking forward to using this- I will need a hazmat suit and a peg for my nose.
Any tips for using this stuff please? I am absolutely dreading the slimy rotted down stuff when I get to the bottom of the bin- do I just dig that into the soil?

I make mine in 2 litre milk cartons.

You don’t use it neat, you dilute it. So only a moment of pong as you scoop a small amount into your already filled watering can of water

We have acres of comfrey down the riverbank near us, but someone once warned me about the whiff so I've never made any fertiliser with it. 😂

Don't make comfrey tea with water, place comfrey in a bucket or strong container with holes drilled in the bottom, place over another container to catch the drips. Pack it in and then cut a piece of wood that fits into the container. Place this on top of the comfrey and put a couple of bricks or something heavy on top of the wood. Collect the liquid that comes out in old drinks bottles. The liquid that drips out of the bottom is odourless compared to comfrey tea and you put about 250ml to 10litres to water. When the container stops dripping empty left over contents onto the compost heap and refill. Smell free comfrey liquid and the leftovers are a great compost activator.

It's good stuff though and less stinky than making it with nettles!

You can do the same thing with nettles or mix the nettles and comfrey together.
The key is to squash it and NOT add water.
The water makes it smelly.
