What happened to my dahlias?

First time Dahlia grower. As you'll see from the photo it's all leaves but now flowers, not even a bud! I've been consistent with watering. Some of the lower leaves got munched by slugs but the majority of each plant is ok

It's too early for dahlias to be in flower - August/September are the best flowering months in most of the UK. You should get flowers until the first frost though.

Ah ok phew 😅 Feels like I've been looking at those leaves for ages willing them to flower! Thanks!

Did you thin the number of shoots earlier? It's a bit late technically but you could get away with it I think. As PP says it's still early, but this will help produce more flowers later.

I’d give them a bit of a feed with a liquid fertiliser. Mine are all up and well into flower but I’m south and they winter outdoors so they start early.
