Japanese maple (Acer) in a pot

I've bought a Japanese Maple and plan on keeping it small and inside a glazed gazebo structure.

I've repotted it today with a suitable mixture and added Acer feed.

It does get quite a bit of sun and heat in the gazebo so will this cause problems? I don't want it to become scorched. How will I tell if it's getting too much sun?

Also, how often should I water it? I've heard they like water when young, but don't want to overdo it.

I don’t think it will be too happy inside a glazed structure during the summer - they prefer cool, and slightly shady conditions. Too much heat and sun will cause the leaves to shrivel and scorch, so watch out for that.

Thanks 😀 I could hang some cover up to shade the sun. That might help.

You could relocate the Acer and try a Liquidamber instead
