I’ve been putting this off for a while…did an autumn clean, started cleaning the glass this morning, and the sprayer on the hose broke. Some encouragement to crack on with it rather than sit here posting on mumsnet would be appreciated. The weather here is cold and gloomy which does not help.

It's better to do it on a cloudy day, instead of getting cooked on a sunny one! When you get a sunny day you'll be smug you've done it.
it's a chore though.

I’ve taken out one bin bag of stuff, washed about 50 pots, and washed the outside glass. Getting there. Thanks for the encouragement @FizzingAda

Can you find a riveting podcast that you need an excuse to binge-listen to? Then put it on in the greenhouse and keep going.

Good idea. I’ve just had lunch, and DH is fixing the sprayer. Thank you.

This is fantastic and gave me a laugh @menopausalmare Having coffee and then starting again. DH is starting to trim hedges now. We’ll get it done!

Hello Verdibird,

Why don’t you put on Gardeners Question Time while you work away.

Half way through treat yourself to a cup of tea and a slice of cake 🍰 or some biscuits 🍪 😋

Happy gardening

I saw this after I finished! Thank you for the suggestion @thesustainablegardener ! Glad I don’t have to do it again for another 6 months, but I admit, it looks so much better now all the green gunk is off the glass and all the pots are washed. I think I must have washed about 200 plastic pots and brushed out a few dozen terracotta ones. And then the deep root trainers needed a clean, etc. Now drinking wine and basking in glory. 😀🌿🍷

Promoted by your thread @verdibird I have finally cleaned out my poor greenhouse and gave it a good wash inside and out before putting everything back in. Yet to wash all the pots as it turned into a busy day where I washed the curtains from our bedrooms (2 pairs which had to be washed one at a time) and the windows, and trimmed the blinds, and made a summer version of a roast dinner (plain roasted chicken with Greek lemony potatoes, long stemmed broccoli and glazed carrots) and after a very long time not being able to do things I suspect I have done far too much today. Dh is promising a back rub to help. Wine is currently helping 🍸

Wow @longtompot you did a lot! Well done you and hope you have a chance to rest. It took me a long time to recover on Sunday from the greenhouse overhaul…DH trimmed all the hedges, and I had to clean up the trimmings, but my work pace was SLOW, lol. Also went on a long walk on the beach with friends, and let us just say I’ve slept well the past couple nights. Enjoy that nice clean greenhouse!
