Perhaps I'd start to sprout

mellow ;a couple of laurels should be good , it will give u good green coverage with yearly triming after a couple of years growth
or
viburnum tinus its an ever green winter flowering shrub grows to 5ft ish but will grow bit slower than the laurel

yes pre grown hedges can be bought but cost a fortune , best to buy plants 18 inches to 2 ft tall xx
