Have about 10 pots of daffs and tulips bought and received as gifts. All have now finished flowering. Can I plant these in my garden for next spring? Do I chop off all the old leaves first or leave them on?

Yes absolutely, the daffs will definitely be fine, tulips can be temperamental but there’s always a chance. Don’t cut the leaves off break off the flower head with the seed pod then all the energy will go into feeding the bulb. A bit of bonemeal sprinkling over them can help too.

The tulips I would be tempted to let die back in the pots then lift, dry them and replant in late autumn.

I wouldn't normally bother lifting tulips but as you're having to do it anyway, it's worth doing I think.
