Mine looks like dead twigs. I'm in the SE. Everything else is sprouted and growing away.

By outdoor I meant, not kept in a greenhouse over winter.

Oxfordshire: tiny leaves at the very bottom! ( new plants last year so very small still).

Nevermindtheteacaps · 12/04/2024 18:42

Tiny flowers, in surrey

TheFlis · 12/04/2024 18:45

Yes mine have been for at least a couple of weeks except one which I am pretty sure is dead (Hertfordshire).

EventuallyDecluttered · 12/04/2024 18:59

Yes, small sprouts (it gets to about 1m high every year but I cut all the dead back every March)

South central, leaves are opening but no sign of flowers yet. It's the last thing in the garden.

Wbeezer · 12/04/2024 19:00

Mine has the tiniest hint of green sprouts but I'm on Scotland and we've had a cold spring.

Tobacco · 12/04/2024 19:06

Hmph. I think I'll cut mine back and see if that helps. It's growing in the ground and looked so healthy last year.

It's a Deltas Sarah. So lovely purple and white.

Yes, both of them. One has new shoots about an inch long with some leaves, the other one just has green bumps.

sarahc336 · 12/04/2024 19:12

Just a couple of tiny leaves in ours, be

Petrarkanian · 12/04/2024 19:14

I've replaced 2 as no shoots, others have small leaves.

I'm in SE and cut them back in Jan. Mine are sprouting. I only bought the seedlings last year but had lovely display. They are in pots. I wrongly assumed they were annuals and was about to pull them out in Jan when I saw tiny signs of life, so cut the dead wood back.

Tobacco · 12/04/2024 19:36

Ok, I'm an idiot. I thought they were supposed to sprout on the branches, so was looking there, but I can see there is a bit of growth from the base now. Yay!

My favourite fuchsia! I had one a couple of years ago, and it was the absolute star of my border for months. The next year it looked completely dead, and I kept waiting for it to revive to no avail. Eventually I cut it right down and it started sprouting leaves again. It then died unfortunately, but I suspect that was because it got trodden on accidentally. I've bought another one this year, which is already quite well established, but you can't judge new plants in the same way.

Depends on the winter. If it’s been mild, they’ll sprout on the branches as well, but if we’ve had a really cold patch like we did this winter, the top growth will die back completely and it’ll shoot from the base

Midlands and I noticed yesterday one is fully of healthy leaves to the tune of 10 inches either way.
My other two are different types and not a lot going off, but will come later.
