I uplifted mine last year and just remembered them. Is it time to plant out?

I live I'm Yorkshire, so I will wait for another couple of weeks.

No,they hate the wet,it tends to rot them. Mine are planted up in pots now, they will go out when there is absolutely NO danger of frost, which will be the end of may, and I live in the mildest SE UK corner, just 10 minutes away from the sea. The ones in my south facing front garden stay in.

I start mine in pots mid April and plant out mid May to avoid the risk of frosts .

South east. Mine stay in the ground year on year. I've just chucked in another ten. Very sheltered and drains well.

Depends on your location, surely!

I'm putting mine in pots this weekend and won't be putting them out until May. Around the time of Chelsea flower show. I want them to be big enough to withstand slugs before they go in the garden. I've had a few disappointments over the years when I've planted them shortly after they sprout Sad

Right! Hold fire then.

Plant them in pots or seed trays and you can take cuttings 😁 Super easy to do and you can triple your collection or use as gifts. It helps stop the slugs.

Never occurred to me! Sounds a good idea 👍

DH's Birthday is the middle of May. He always gets a new dahlia for his Birthday and we don't plant out before this time. We had frost last week!
