Is it too late to prune wisteria?

I planted a wisteria last spring & it's grown huge already! I read that you are supposed to prune them back in Jan/feb but I've struggled to get out to do it as it's been so wet!
I noticed that it now has lots of buds but no leaves. Have I missed the window or will it still be ok?!

Go ahead - its still february!

It's fine, you haven't missed the window. You prune according to the buds (cut back to two or three buds on a stem). If you miss the winter pruning, you can also prune in summer after flowering.

Just tidy it up. Don’t worry about the 2/3 bud rule. Wisterias grow like mad that’s why there’s 2 cutting seasons.

Great, thanks! I'll get on it tomorrow!

Hi all. Sorry to jump on. I have two wisteria which I bought last summer they are both still sticks. No branches leaves or buds. What should it look like now?

Thanks.

Mine has small leaf shoots appearing all over the stems now. They started to appear about 2 weeks ago. Where are you? If you're far north maybe yours is just a bit behind?

I also have one resembling a twig but just noticed tiny bits of growth this week. I recently visited the garden centre I bought it from last year and theirs were still also twigs which gave me hope!

This is mine now

Thank you. Mine is literally 1 straight twig with no bumps
