Down south of us a bit...this city used to be a Hells Angels Biker town. A developer came in, bought a tonne of land because it was cheap and started building mansions....must not have done his homework since he built these homes so close to unstable cliffs.🙄

AnneKipankitoo · 02/03/2024 08:33

Oh no!

Here are photos of my neighbour's garden...the house above is being remodeled and they've disturbed the dirt on the slope below them so it is causing erosion. They've put up plastic film to prevent further destruction...hopefully it will work

Gorgeous colour, @applecatchers36 !

Long ago my elderly neighbour loved to plant bulbs. She passed away , and it was so touching for all to remember her every year when her bulbs would appear.
Another story....
I think I've shared this on here before...my dear father had planted daffodils all over his back garden at the bottom of a knoll so you couldn't see them from the house. When they bloomed he'd bring a big bouquet in to my mum.
He died 7 years ago. 😭 ...2 or 3 years ago, I was clearing out the area and finally saw them for the first time. I gathered up a huge bouquet and ran up to the house telling my mum, 'Look! Dad has sent you a lovely bunch of daffodils!' Of course, we both burst into tears 😭
When I was visiting my mum's home this past February, the leaves were just poking through the ground. I dug up all the bulbs and moved them closer to the house so mum could enjoy them from her kitchen window. They've all bloomed now and she was thrilled that she could once again enjoy the daffodils that her true love of 65 years had planted for her in the past.
This post reads like a corny Hallmark movie!😂 Sorry!
But, this just reminds me of how much joy we can bring to the World with 'our colour'...not only in the present with our passion for gardening, but also for years and years to come.❤️
Thank you, MN gardeners for bringing beauty to this world 👩🏻‍🌾👩🏼‍🌾👩🏽‍🌾👩🏿‍🌾💐🌺🌻🌼🌷🪻⚘️🌾

Beautiful pics @applecatchers36 . The spring flowers remind me that here in Melbourne we're being urged to get the bulbs in and 17th March is plant your sweet peas day. We're having summer in autumn here: no rain, warm to very hot days and cool evenings.

Here is my thornless and scented bougainvillea. It's about 4 metres high so gives privacy to my bedroom balcony. It had a faint scent when I bought it years ago but hardly detectable now.

The weather this past weekend. No warning at all, so inconsiderate. The snow thankfully cleared in 2 days, but it stopped play ie. gardening plans!

early pollinator on a crocus (2 days before the snow, which somewhat proves the bonkers weather atm)

tête à tête

Thank you, @AnneKipankitoo my mum will tell you the same 😂.

I love seeing your crocuses peeping the heads out..will be lovely with the irises. Is that your gargantuan Christmas amaryllis that grew like a giant bean stalk that year?

AnneKipankitoo · 07/03/2024 09:24

It is not the same one.
That one was called Dancing Queen and it was a gift from a patient. It was bought in M&S ( a shopping chain )
It was gorgeous.
This one is Rilona and I bought it from Farmer Gracy. I don’t think I have it in a good spot. I am not too happy with the colours but that was my choice.

AnneKipankitoo · 07/03/2024 12:59

I did replant Dancing Queen but it just snuffed it.

@AnneKipankitoo oh poor Dancing Queen ..it had us all on tenterhooks wondering if you were going to have to cut a hole in your ceiling to accommodate its hearty growth Easter Grin
