This thread is so lovely. I love seeing everyone's photos. Here are my tulips. Orange and dark purple. For some reason the orange looks red on the photo!

Tulips are very photogenic aren't they. Trouble is they bob around all over the place when you try to take a picture of them! My peachy lemon parrot tulips are cute.

Most of my gardening is Spring pruning at the moment, or seeing lots of new growth on the peony, lupin and sprouting dahlia, which probably isn't of much interest yet. I'm hoping the investment of effort will bring some lovely photos in May and June, provided the slugs don't get there first!

Beautiful pics, especially the tulips. I don't bother with them here in Melbourne as they are stupidly expensive and you can't get the scented ones I used to buy in London probably a bio-hazard.

My new back fence is up! Now spending my spare time nurdling the stems of the growing hedge into the wicker!

Fab newt @Mummumgem . I love this time of year when the UK gets busy after the winter quiet.

AnneKipankitoo · 15/04/2024 12:05

@AnneKipankitoo I think you win!! That's beautiful

greenerfingers · 15/04/2024 16:41

It's been so long but lovely to see everyone's gardens and flowers. We've moved over the winter so need to start from scratch and have so much to do. It's so overwhelming that I've just sat back and have been enjoying watching the birds at the bird feeder. We need to dig up the grass and level it as it's so badly uneven. Need to make beds too as it's a rectangle of grass and random concrete right now.

AnneKipankitoo · 15/04/2024 23:04

Hopefully you will get there @greenerfingers

@greenerfingers I hope the planning and plotting will be fun.

I thought I’d finally stop lurking and add a couple of pictures. The pieris is glorious at the minute which is especially lovely as the weather here on the West Coast of Scotland is still pretty bleak; I’m so happy to see honesty this year too, as none came up last year…

@Jelliclecats - wow! The honesty looks lovely. I planted two small plants last year in not very good soil and in a shady area and they have battled on and survived - had no idea that’s how big they get!

Jelliclecats · 16/04/2024 14:02

@Maggiethecat I love honesty, and still have an arrangement of the seed heads I made as a child forty years ago! I’d recommend storing some seeds to scatter yourself or give away - my children love making little envelopes up of them to give as Thank You tokens to teachers and their friends.

Maggiethecat · 16/04/2024 15:43

I’ll take special care of them!

Funny thing is that I almost dug them up to discard a month ago when I noticed the flower heads and decided to keep them! I had forgotten what they were.

Sweetpea1532 · 21/04/2024 21:45

@AnneKipankitoo those little blue flowers at the top left are very nice, too.

Thank you @Sweetpea1532 . The purple ones are grape hyacinth… there is a Latin name with an m

@greenerfingers You'll get there! You'll be able to take the things you learned from your last garden and apply it to your new place.
