Trying to Grow Oriental Veg but They're Too Slow-Growing

Having read Joy Larkcom's Oriental Vegetable book, I decided to grow in my raised bed -

Kaillan
Choi Sum
Komatsuna
Burdock

which I'd sown on 21st June (book recommended after the equinox) but they're very slow growing at only the true leaf stage. The bed is riddled with borage seeds and they keep on seeding all over it, and I'm constantly weeding them out every two days. (The constant rain keeps encouraging them!) I get that the weather hasn't been too great with the regular grey skies, and the warmth isn't really consistent enough.

Are there any others out there finding it the same, or is it the fact that I'm disturbing the development due to the regular weeding? (Also, in the bed are tomatoes).
