I purchased this in late May from an online retailer, supposedly good. It was supplied in an small 1 litre pot, as I say, on the small side but I had one last year (from a different retailer) so I know how quickly they grow big. I hindsight I wish I had waited, but more on that in a bit.
Anyway the plant arrived okay. I potted out into a lager pot & was doing fine, up until a couple of weeks ago when I noticed the new unfolding leaf was all black & deformed & looked half-eaten. So I cut it off thinking it just maybe a dodgy leaf as I could see the next new one. This one in the pics has come through the same, all rotten. The previous leaves were fine.
The ensete banana plant I had last year from somewhere else was great and I am not doing anything different with this one, just maybe not watering as much because the weather is wetter this year, both of them growing/grew in pots.
I also purchased a Musa Basjoo from the same retailer as the Ensete this year (I was inpatient & wanted them quickly and these were the only ones stocking them!) & I’m not impressed with it at all, the leaves are all brown, white & limp, looks dreadful. I did email them about that one but they just said that’s what all young banana plants look like which is bollocks cos the ones I got from Dobbies last years were flawless. I wish I had waited til they get them in stock. So all in all I’ve spent about £50 on shit plants with this company (inc del price). I def won’t use them again.
Anyone know what’s happening with my Ensete? Can it be saved?
