Hi all, me again 🤦‍♀️ my DH was weeding flower bed this evening as each weed came out there was this white dusty, powdery residue amongst the bark? Any ideas what it is? Hopefully nothing to worry about 🙏

Is it mould OP? I have 'decorative' bark and I have this in places - especially in darker/wetter areas.

Its fungus, v good, you'll always find it on this bark as it breaks it down. Nothing to worry about.

@Thebirdhouse oh possibly! We’ve had very very wet weather for weeks now! ☔️

@almondfinger I like the sound of this! Thank you!

If it’s in the shade it will stay white. If it’s in the sun it should burn off. If you want to get rid of it sprinkle s dusting of cornflour on it.

It is mycorrhizal fungi @seeyouinanotherlifewhenwearebothcats and is a very good thing to find in your soil. It is totally natural, forms a relationship with the roots of plants and is beneficial for both.

You can actually buy the stuff as an additive to put in the hole when you're putting in new plants. There's one called Rootgrow that comes in packets, and is sold in garden centres.

How wonderful! Delighted ☺️ thank you @Yamadori!
