Plants to plant around and outside a pond that will trail over and hide ugly liner?

Kind of messed up when we dug our pond as didn’t do a shelf around and just below the edge so need to plant from outside to cover liner.

Any ideas?

We have a wildlife pond, though we do have plants on the shelf. But also have a bed along two sides, planted with aubretia, wild geraniums (cranesbill), catmint. Herbaceous hardy perennials plants that grow prolifically in the summer and flop over the edge. Had salvias last year but the cold winter got most of them. They all die down in winter, though, so you will have bare edges. Can you put stones or pavers to hid the edge?

Ivy. Grows quickly, will trail and cover nicely. And it's inexpensive.

Grow some grasses; they will down down in winter, though.
