Couldn’t really think what to use as a heading so here goes..

Tempted by the middle aisle in Aldi ( or was it Lidl) I have ended up with a giant pot. ( will try and attach a photo). I don’t want to put a shrub in but rather some nice scented bedding plants to have at the back door.
so a) recommendations for highly scented bedding plants please
and b) I really don’t want to waste compost by filling a massive pot when there will only be a few shallow rooted bedding plants in it. What could I use to take up at least half the space taking into account water will still have to drain out of the bottom?
Suggestions welcome please .

Nemesia Vanilla. I would probably put 3 in that pot.
Smells gorgeous and flowers well into autumn if you keep trimming the spent flowers.

Just about to suggest this. It's beautiful with a strong vanilla scent. Wisley Cream

How about the scented leaf pelargonium some of which have attractive flowers.

I use bark chips in the bottom of mine. Gives good drainage too 😊

Looking forward to seeing what you decided to plant!

@greenspaces4peace what a great site. Is it an American one as it mentions zones?
How would you go about getting the exact plants and colours they recommend as they are unusual colours. Is there something online where you can order?

No mail order, your larger nurseries should carry most of these in the spring (earlier) so more about locating and contacting for next year at this point.
here in Kamloops BC where I live we have two big nurseries that are well stocked (though not after Mother’s Day, when most is sold out).
This year I found all the varieties.
