What flower am I and can I plant in the garden?

Morning all - I was gifted this from a colleague - does anyone know what is it and if I can plant in the garden? Would it be evergreen etc?

It’s a carnation, you can plant it out but it will die back in the winter (not evergreen) and it might come back next year (but not if the frost gets it).

I have carnations that come back year after year in the garden, but some varieties might be hardier than others, I’m not sure.

Yes, it is an outdoor perennial plant, a carnation pink.
