Hi All

my DH has just bought two window boxes to put in the front. We have a victorian house with original shady windows and lovely stain glass at the top. south facing. and ideas what to plant in them?

i'm thinking lavender but DH thinks that might be a bit dull?

thanks

What colours do you have in the stained glass? I’d try to pick up those colours.

thanks for the reply. we have yellow, blue, red and green. they are small squares at the top. The other panes are clear glass. our front door is teal if that helps with the inspiration.

my original post was supposed to say sash windows not shady!

I think window boxes look best with a mix of upright and trailing plants. Lavender could be a good start for the upright part, so I'd look for something trailing that matches one of the other window colours.
