How do I stop snails thinking my plants are an All You Can Eat Buffet?

I have some seeding in my mini greenhouse ( its a zip up plastic covered frame ) and I've just hoiked another four snails off my poor seedlings .

I also have a new Passionflower they've taken a shine to.
I did consider eggshells but reading online they only work when dry .

Any tried and tested tips ?

Beer traps...use cheap lager...really any lager...set a large yoghurt pot at soil level and 1/3 fill with lager...it will attract them in like magic...they drown drunk!

There’s isn’t a silver bullet. I’d have thought you need to be meticulous in a greenhouse as if they get in, they will do a lot of damage. Check under the seed trays, under ledges, the rims of pots, inside bags of compost. Kill them as you go along. Protect young plants with slug pellets. Broadcast slug pellets around the perimeter of the mini greenhouse. In my experience wool, eggshells, copper tape don’t really work.

The only sure fire way is to only grow things they don't like.

I have just had the tops of all my zinnia seedlings munched off. Luckily I have more, and I'm determined to grow them as I love them so much, but there's lots of other things they won't touch.

Bran

Wheat or corn bran is a dessicant that will cause slugs to swell up and die when consumed. Sprinkle it around plants in your vegetable and flower beds and monitor to see if slugs are snacking. If your brand seems too coarse for slugs to eat, blend it in your food processor until a finer grain. Like many other soil treatments, bran needs to be reapplied after a heavy rain, but the beauty of this treatment? It’s inexpensive and non-toxic to humans. You can also purchase bran in bulk at most feed stores.

You could try putting your plants in a tray of water. Boost them up on bricks so they don't get waterlogged, but make sure there's a body of water the slugs would have to cross to get to the pots.

Also check all the pots regularly in case you have resident gastropods

There was a tip on one of the other threads about coffee grounds which I do have so I'll try that today . Bran is a great idea, I need to use something non toxic for wildlife and the felines .

When I had guineapigs I did try the copper tape (didn't work) the only thing that kept them out of the piggie shed was salt round all the edges then the floor covering on top .

I see that website linked suggests ducks ......

Our male cat would wave his tail like a helicoptor blade , the female cat would be "Oh , and when was THIS decided" all cats bum face .

This belongs on a litter tray thread but my cat Lola would look longingly at Mr Quack wondering what to do with him but too petrified to do anything!

Twelve sunflowers seedlings were growing really nicely...........looked this morning...one left .
