I've just bought
Sarcococca Confusa
https://www.ashwoodnurseries.com/shop/sarcococca-confusa.html

It will go in the south facing front garden where it'll be in a fair amount of shadow from the house.

And
Cytisus Boskoop Ruby (broom) x2
https://www.ashwoodnurseries.com/shop/cytisus-boskoop-ruby.html

I've had the broom before and it's a brilliant colour.

I've just planted a whole load of lady of Shallott roses, an orange japanese quince and several japanese maples.

That ruby broom looks lovely!

We’ve bought 4 roses from David Austin. Last autumn we bought Lady of Shallott(orange) and Gabriel Oak (red) and I put them in 60L pots. About 2 years ago we bought the Clair Austin (white rambler) and Malvern Hills (yellow climber) - the MH did really well but the CA struggled in a shadier spot so I moved it last year and it’s done much better in the sunnier spot next to the MH - I’m going to have to construct something for them to continue growing up - they are against a fence with horizontal wired I strung between wooden batons fixed to the concrete fence posts. All the David Austin roses seem very healthy.

I might look at a quince or maybe a dwarf crab apple as I have some space - I put an Orange Dream acer in last year - I already have a beautiful unknown palmatum which must be 11 years old now.

I’ve been buying lots of plants as we’ve just had some landscaping finished and now I have a new border and the existing one has been made bigger - I bought a cherry tree, a pear tree, an ornamental cherry, then viburnum, a trailing rosemary, callicarpa, sarcococca humilis, philadelphus, buddleja, fuchsia, wiegela, and a forsythia.

Next up I want some evergreens to add into the mix.

geojellyfish · 31/03/2023 19:31

I am another new sarcococca owner, but mine is Sarcococca Hookeriana, a more compact variety. The smell is incredible, isn't it?

I picked up a very small Viburnum Tinus shrub from Morrisons, so fingers crossed I can get that to establish.

For Mother's Day I got a Cornus Kousa 'cappuccino' and hydrangea macrophylla 'Zorro', my first lace cap variety.

I'm still waiting to plant them all though! I'm getting rather impatient.

parklimes · 31/03/2023 19:59

About 20 lavender bushes as I've dug bigger beds and got them all at the front of the borders. Also bought fox gloves and salvias

Poepourri · 31/03/2023 20:56

Sweetpeasforever · 05/04/2023 21:08

More roses! Iceberg for a semi shady spot and Queen of Sweden for the middle of a raised bed to be surrounded by lavender. I'm going to reconfigure the front and back gardens and they will be all about roses! Slight obsessed.

Bideshi · 05/04/2023 21:17

Lots and lots. 6 or 7 different meconopsis. Scented and specie pelargoniums for huge pots. Brugmansias to replace the ones I lost in the winter. Hedychiums for pots and for my autumn beds. Rhododendron loderi 'King George' and rhododendron sino-falconeri.

Velvetbee · 05/04/2023 21:27

10 metres of mixed mostly native hedge at my daughter’s. Hazel, spindle, crab apple, guelder rose, hornbeam, cherry plum, bird cherry and amelanchier with snowdrops and snakeshead fritillary beneath. I’m so proud of it.

NewBootsAndRanty · 05/04/2023 22:43

Bellis perennis 'Double Pink'
Yellow ranunculus
Saxifrage 'Taurin Pink'
Blue zebra pansy
Some purple verbena on order for late June.

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 05/04/2023 23:07

Ending house reno so its been all about the gardens over the past year. This means there has been a lot of plant buying. I'm patiently waiting for the following to arrive from Jacksons Nurseries.

Euphorbia Robbiae x 3 for under a large conifer in the front garden. The ones planted last year are doing really well in the shady and dry area.

A white hydrangea madame emile for a bed under another conifer.
3 hostas.
3 white astilbe Deutschland
3 lime marmalade heuchera
3 tiarella jeepers creepers

An acer (Beni Maiko) was bought a week ago from a local nursery and I'm really excited for the next few months.
Bamboo rufa for in pots for some screening in the back garden.
An olive tree and lemon tree.

Back garden border laurel hedging to create much needed screening before new neighbours move in (low garden walls).

I'm giving myself and my bank balance a rest after April!

Bideshi · 06/04/2023 10:06

@Velvetbee Love a native hedge. Stone wall country here and I miss them. Snakeshead Frits are damp meadow plants though. Not too dry in front of your hedge?

I've bought a quince.

Proper quince, not japanese quince? Exciting!

MerylSqueak · 06/04/2023 18:49

I have bought lots! Three The Fairy pink roses for my front bed, three floribunda salmon pink roses for a back bed with lavender, rosemary, scabious and perovskia plus white astilbe and green fern for a shady spot and herbs for a new herb garden.

I'm wondering what else to do to put in more year round colour.

Buddleia Black Knight - got this in early Match , it was A Twig In A Pot but it's got loads of leaves now and went through a few weeks of being under cover , then out when it was warm. Potted up now and it'll live there -hopefully happpily- for a while .

I rescued one of these from the reduced section of a garden centre & put it in last summer - it's doing nicely now.

My Black Knight is a fraud Shock

In its favour , it is growing well , beautiful glossy leaves .
But the flowers are magenta not dark purple/blue .

I'm sure it will attract butterflies . It was grown to provide screening to a low part of the fence .
But its not a Black Knight . <First World Problem>
