Getting up from weeding

6 replies

I'm posting on chat for traffic.
I'm getting on in years and have trouble getting up from weeding without feeling a bit dizzy sometimes.
I've looked in vain for anything to steady myself with and am hoping somebody here can help . Looked on some gardening sites and Amazon but can't see anything. Any tips would be appreciated.

You can get kneelers with handles. For example.
It seems that you can use the handles to help you get up and then flip it over to use as a seat whilst you acclimatise.

Would a kneeler with handles help?

Kneeler

that’s the first thing that comes to mind.

I’m assuming you’ve tried getting up
slowly? Rock back onto you heels, straighten legs but keep your back bent over & head down. Then uncurl your back slowly to avoid a sudden change in elevation for your head.

@senua and @ladyinthecampervan

Thank you both for your replies.

I hadn't seen these. They look exactly what I want.

Lady in the camper van, this also sounds a good idea, especially the bit about the change in elevation for my head, as I think that is probably what has caused the problem.

The sun is finally out today so have started on the weeding.

Jealous of the time in the garden @dogmandu. a combination of work and weather will keep my weeds untouched until the weekend!

Those kneelers are great the can be used either way up.

@ladyinthecampervan It was so relaxing and peaceful. I use that time for making decisions, talking to myself and the like. I hope the weather stays good for the weekend for you.
@cushioncovers thanks for the tip
