I've just bought 5 Grin Some of them are SO massive - like a pack of sausages. I'm wondering if I can cut all the branches off and plant them individually?

Also, does it matter if I plant the tubers out in the ground now? Since they'll be well underground and away from the frost?

Waiting to read the answers. I planted 5 dahlia tubers last spring and none came up. I was sad.

I haven't grown dahlias for years but IIRC each piece of root must have the beginnings of a shoot or it won't grow.

I'm sure it's too early to plant them out yet but you could start them off in big pots ready to plant out later.

I followed this advice re planting tubers and it worked, I grew them inside in pots first rather than plant straight into the ground
