If you leave dahlias in the ground when would you start to see them come up?

I know it’s a bit of a risk.

Always leave ours. We are in the southeast. They start coming up after the daffodils and tulips go. Don't flower til around July though

We always leave ours and it varies when each one starts to shoot. Some have not started until quite late (June) when we thought they may have died - but they were absolutely fine and produced lots of foliage and flowers.

We do mulch heavily in the late autumn, though. To help keep frosts at bay. Manure or grass clippings or any organic material you have to hand.
