How much can I grow in a 6x8 greenhouse?

Looking at greenhouses and want to get the biggest we can afford)can fit. Just wondering what sort of yields you can get with a 6x8 greenhouse? I've grown tomatoes very successfully outside so I know technically you don't need a greenhouse, but would like to try some new tomato varieties, peppers, chillis, aubergine, cucumber .. . Am I going to need a bigger greenhouse?

I have a 6x8 it’s not big enough! I am constrained by space so that was the biggest I could get and it is fine. Mine is on a concrete basis so everything goes in pots. I can fit 7 or 8 15 litre pots down one side. I did double up so had two rows but it turned into an absolute jungle so I took some outside! If you are on soil you could probably fit more.

I love my greenhouse wouldn’t be without it for sowing seeds in autumn/winter/spring and for heat loving crops in summer.

This is what I am worried about! I'll be using pots too, so will probably have the same problem. We could for a bigger on in the space but not sure I can afford one and also wouldnt then have space for any raised beds outside.... Don't know what to do!

Mine is 6x8 (on an existing concrete base so this was the max size I could do without significant expense). It has built in staging up one side, which I use for starting seeds and for smaller plants (herbs etc). Underneath I store pots/compost/tools etc. On the other side and across the end I have a row of 30L pots - this year I grew 3x tomatoes, 2x peppers and 2x cucumber.

I am lucky to have some outside space with raised beds and space for pots. So I think next summer I’ll put the tomatoes outside and maybe try growing aubergine.

I’d say don’t lose your outside space, keeping things cool enough and damp enough in the greenhouse was a struggle this summer.

Whatever size your greenhouse, you will grow to exceed the space. Mine is nearly 4 times the area of yours, and I struggle. So buy the biggest that fits with your garden and your pocket.

In midsummer, it’s good to have outdoor space to avoid overheating or to control specifically greenhouse pests like red spider mite or whitefly

The pressure times for me are at change of season - greenhouse full of seedlings waiting to be potted on but I haven’t yet been able to put the overwintering stuff outside; or, tomatoes an cucumbers still gaily cropping but tender stuff outside demanding to be brought back in for the winter.

First greenhouse year for me. I had 11l pots round the edge and a double row in the middle. Definitely too many plants in there! Could barely inch through when everything grew. Also the pots were too small for the cucumbers. Next year I will do a single row in the middle. I the height of summer things did get too hot. The outside tomatoes ripened faster as they were less stressed. On the flip side, I still have peppers and aubergine growing now and the outdoor tomatoes got blight.
