Here are some pics, which are current. It's a hardy looking bush, nice filler and would fill out a border nicely. Any ideas?

I think that's a hebe.

Ah - thought it might be but the ones I see for sale tend to look plant pot size. Guessing - thick person posting alert - that they grow larger, that's to say much much larger and that takes maybe 10 years?

My Hebe has grown soooooooooooooo much in the last 10 years. Next Spring I intend pruning it back a lot. I hope I do not damage it but it is taking over the border.

There are many different species and varieties of hebe. That looks very much like one I have, which I prune regularly to keep it 8ft tall and no more than 4ft from back to front
