Spotty leaves on house plant

Hi everyone,
our house plant has lots of spots on its leaves and has been sickly the whole 2 years we’ve had it. Does anyone know what’s wrong with it by any chance so that we can cure it!? Thanks

It looks like a form of rust. What is the plant called?

Could well be something fungal.
