Hosepipe ban, arthritis and not coping with watering cans.

Hi
I don't have a blue badge but do have arthritis and adhesive capsulitis. I'm not coping with watering my pots with a watering can - it's been a week and my shoulders and hips are considerably worse. Has anyone asked their water provider for exemption to go back to watering with a hose on this basis? I'm beginning to think I'll just have to let my plants die.
TIA.

Do you have a friendly neighbour who would help? Or can you manage a few pounds to a teen in the neighbourhood to get them to do it?

You need to apply to go on the priority services register, google will bring up the form. It can apply for water and electricity as I've just done it for my parents.

I hadn't realised about the exemption for blue badge holders. Doesn't matter now as all my plants have died. Useful for the future though.

Are you able to use a hosepipe attached to a water butt?

Neither did I. Is this a thing for all water companies?

OP, I agree about getting on the Priority Service Registers asap.

Re water butts and hoses, as I understand, unless you are exempt then you can only hosepipe the water to a pond if wildlife needs it. I will be doing that in the next week.

Thanks for this. I'll have a go and see if I can register without a blue badge.

When I filled the energy one out (online) I wasn't asked for proof. It just asked me to tick the conditions and circumstances that applied. (Obviously I could prove it with my blue badge; and you would have your summary medical records etc, but no-one asked.)

I haven't done the water one because I didn't realise there was one. I'll have a look this evening.

Anyway, good luck with it.

You can use a hose connected to a water butt. It’s a hose connected to mains water that you cannot use during a hosepipe ban.

Please be extremely careful using a hose with a water butt as the water could be warm enough to grow legionnaires disease. Don't use a spray head and keep the pressure low to avoid making spray you could inhale.

You are allowed to use drip irrigation systems even on mains so might be worth investigating
