Don't think it's slugs or snails as no slime trail, not eaten the fruit and haven't seen any. Caterpillar type thing??

Probably a caterpillar type thing to leave the ribs like that. Most likely a sawfly larvae.

Can you see the caterpillars on the plant? Look underneath the leaves...
