Blend of aromas for flower garden - can they clash?

Only recently when sampling roses did I realise some of them really do hit you with a lovely smell, it's passed me by until now. Can all these be bunged together with, say, lavender? Would a few herbs planted nearby clash? Is there some kind of ideal combination or some to avoid?

Until recently I only thought of it in terms of how it looks.

Flowers have an amazing ability to blend, as I move through my garden different scents come and go. Sitting in the evening after a hot day and watering the plants, brings out a completely different aroma.
Also, even clashing colours can seem to blend in a zingy way when tempered with their green foliage.

Have you ever walked into a florists shop and said, "eew, those scents clash"?
No, thought not.Smile

I don’t think roses and lavender could ever clash. Quite intoxicating these hot evenings!
