I've used thompson and morgan for seeds, they arrived really quick! If you plan on buying any fruit bushes from them - be warned!! They took nearly 8 weeks to turn up!!
I also keep nosing around teh garden organic website, they also have a section where you can join their seed library and choose 6 (I think) varieties of seeds of old veg varieties.
hth!

thanks redclover, I'd stumbled across this site and wondered if it was any good. the varieties of eg beans look quite interesting.

www.nickys-nursery.co.uk/

the website is pretty grim but they do have some unusual seeds, everything arrives quickly, cheaper than T&M (or more seeds per cost) and they often chuck in some freebies.

they are great, i've used them for years and grow everything from seed, even when i had a spell of self-sufficency living in france.
