Opium poppy and cow parsley seeds—when and how to plant?

I went to Great Dixter and got inspired by the beautiful borders with opium poppies and cow parsley. I have seeds of both. When and how should I plant them? Please advise! Thank you.

I scatter mine in the Autumn, look up online for the best position in your garden. They like dry sun.

I scattered poppy seeds in pots in the spring. They germinated easily, I potted a few on and gave them to others, and planted a couple in my garden. The bees love them. I cut the spent flowers and get a second flowering.

Gardeners world says to sow cow parsley in the spring also.

The packet of oriental poppy seeds I've got say sow April to May, or August to September. Really annoyed with myself for not planting some a couple of weks ago.
