First off Im not a gardener!

Noticed this hasbeen growing in my garden recently seemed to grow fairly quickly. Really tall with a thick stem and buds.

At first I thought a sunflower because of the height... but I dont it is.

Is it a weed????🤣

Looks like lovage or similar. Rub a leaf, what does it smell like?

Imworkingonit · 12/06/2022 12:44

I've be just run it through my plant identifier app and it says Lovage

Haggisfish3 · 12/06/2022 12:45

Be careful that it isn’t giant hogweed.

Yes, lovage. I’ve got some. Love the smell of it but have no idea what to do with it!

KirstenBlest · 12/06/2022 16:55

It tastes a bit like cerlery and parsley and I chuck a bunch of leaves into a curry

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 12/06/2022 16:59

AppleButter · 12/06/2022 17:00

MrJi · 12/06/2022 17:00

Bird poo!

JamMakingWannaBe · 13/06/2022 03:09

Make a Bloody Mary cocktail and use the stalk as a straw!

Monty27 · 13/06/2022 03:16

Don't you just love it when nature drops in a plant for you.
The flowers should be interesting 🙂

KirstenBlest · 13/06/2022 12:03

Herbs scatter seeds, so could have blown in.
Lovage tends to appear in late spring so might have been there before.
The flowers look a bit like cow parsley

I have a cherry tree that just grew without my knowledge
