I've been given a massive pot and I'd like to put something colourful in it. Any suggestions?

Dahlias will flower until the first frost ( picked my last one at the end of October last year) and the more you pick for the house, the more flowers they grow . Depending on how massive the pot is, you might manage to get a few in there. I'd go with the potted ones rather than any tubers that are still up for sale because tubers take a while to get going and are a faff. Use copper tape around the top because slugs adore them.

I was going to suggest Dahlias, but another suggestion might be a Hydrangea.

Go to Morrisons, mine has really healthy sweet Williams in at the moment.

I’ve got some dahlias that I planted as tubers and are now sprouting, would they do? They are mixed colours though and I have no idea what’s what. Would they spread to fill the space? I’m very much a novice!

How big is giant? Mixed planting would be lovely if it’s not too squished in, Monty Don had some lovely mixed planted pots on gardeners world / instagram (could have been either, possibly both). Well worth having a gander.

but. Most importantly, yy to the anti-slug copper tape. Works a treat.

Not sure how big it is, I’ll measure it when I get home if it is still light

Is it too late to plant a dahlia in a pot ?
