I love blue flowers and am trying to squeeze some more into the garden this year! I have forget me nots, borage, salvia, Felicia, brunnera, Alkanet (I know it’s a thug, but I have a little patch of it as I love the flowers!).

Can anyone recommend me some more to try to find? The more blue (not purple!), the better!

My lithodora diffusa heavenly blue is looking fab at the moment. The most vivid blue flower i know.

I'm also eyeing up delphinium faust, but have just planted delphinium summer skies

Delphinium.

Runningupthecurtains · 05/05/2022 17:19

Meconopsis aka Himalayan poppies. I had them at my old house and after 15 years here I ordered some last week.

I also love a delphinium but so do the slugs and snails 🐌

Caryopteris, especially the one with lime green leaves because it's such a lovely contrast.

Ceanothus (some are azure). Agapanthus. Gentian. In Spring, chianodoxa and scillia. Are grape hyacinths and Geranium "Johnson's Blue" too purple for you?

PlayerOneNotReady · 05/05/2022 17:24

Have you thought about Ceanothus? shrub in various sizes and shades of blue. Or just coming into flower now or two weeks ago if you're Monty Don a lovely bulb called Camassia

I grew balloon flowers aka Chinese bellflowers from seed. They are lovely. No good at posting pics but do google them.

LeeMiller · 05/05/2022 17:32

I love blue flowers too. We have:
Nigella
Bearded Iris
Scabiosa/pincushion flower
Morning glory
Hardy Geranium
Plumbago (the South African one)

senua · 05/05/2022 17:35

Are bluebells too obvious?Grin
Bugle.
Do pulmonaria and ajuga count, or are they too purple-y.
You can get blue varieties of cranesbill geranium.

senua · 05/05/2022 17:36

Canterbury bell.

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 05/05/2022 17:36

Lithodora, skylover, brachyscome multifida and hibiscus.

ValerieMorghulis · 05/05/2022 17:37

I like scabious; such a pretty colour and they are easy to grow

Coastalcreeksider · 05/05/2022 17:37

Forget me nots. They go a bit mad as they self seed but they look beautiful against my tulips.

CottonSock · 05/05/2022 17:38

Cornflowers. One came up from our bird seed

sandgrown · 05/05/2022 17:39

Definitely cornflowers

senua · 05/05/2022 17:39

Cornflower.

Jericha · 05/05/2022 17:40

Cornflowers, I put seed in the corners of the garden.

senua · 05/05/2022 17:41

x-post cornflowers everywhere. Must be self-seeding!Grin

NanTheWiser · 05/05/2022 18:21

Lithodora is true blue, but likes an acid soil. Brunnera is nice too, as is its relative Omphalodes, a small growing plant for shade.

Eddielizzard · 05/05/2022 18:23

Lots of my favourites already listed, but Nigella / Love in the mist is a beautiful sky blue too. Will self seed.

londonmummy1966 · 05/05/2022 18:27

One of my neighbours has a bright blue fleabane - no idea what it is called but very pretty mounds of blue daisies

Jericha · 05/05/2022 18:31

@senua Grin

unidentia · 05/05/2022 18:39

Ooh I like all the suggestions.
I will suggest Ceratostigma willmottianum forest blue (perennial comes back every year)

unidentia · 05/05/2022 18:40

and Lobelia 'Cambridge' is a true blue

Thejugglestruggle · 05/05/2022 18:41
