Any gardeners can help me out !
So I have a garden haha however we don't have any soil or borders etc so I have quite a few pots hanging baskets etc what's best to plant now that will look nice, not cost a fortune and easy to look after?
Last year I did some primrose I think it was and they looked like they had melted 🤔

I have a few hydrangeas so need some other ideas please 🙏🏻

It very much depends where you are in the UK and if your pots are in the sun or shade.

For the sake of quick reply, I'll assume you're Midlands not proper north or south, and you have sun in your garden!

In that case, there are many really easy flowers to grow-from-seed right now, Trailing Petunia, Poppies, Sweet Pea, Nasturtiums, Cosmos and Corn flowers.

Crack right on though, mid April is prime growing from seed time!

@Linguini thank you! I'm north west I do get sun in my garden all different parts throughout the day!

Thank you I'll have a look 👀

Protect them from frost, even though the days seem to warming up there’s still a danger of frost especially overnight. , I’m in the north east on the coast and our planting times are a little later than more southern areas.
I don’t attempt to pot anything up until Late April, Early May, they soon catch up and always look great. I used to put too many plants in but have found they fare better if I don’t overfill the pots, baskets, keep them well watered and a good feed,

do you want them to look nice now, or to plant them now to look nice in the summer? It will be tricky (though not impossible)to plant up pots that look nice now and later in the summer.

You can still plant summer flowering bulbs, such as Lilies, gladioli, and Dahlias. You might find some early sprouting plants at the garden centre, Lupins, Lily of the valley, roses that can be planted in pots.
I’d have a visit to a garden centre and have a look.
