Last year I planted about 16 plants in a veg trug which had a net cover for when they were fruiting. I had others that wouldn't fit in so I put some in a half barrel and some in pots on their own.

The ones in the trug did really well. The rest were just bird food. I don't think I got any from the ones that were not in the trug. This year I'm moving the ones in pots to a raised bed so I can cover them with a net.

I had some strawberries in a planter on our allotment. I went to look at them last week and the whole thing was full of vine weevil grubs, no roots left!
I had planted some of the runners in a raised bed so hopefully they will be ok. Appparently, vine weevils love srawberry roots!
