To continue into Spring 2022.

Unfortunately, I am not sure how many pictures I will be able to supply this year . Some builders are in building an extension for me .
I might have to live off all your lovely photos. Keep them coming!💐

Furries these look glorious . I had a Gabriel Oak for Christmas gift and whilst only 1 I hope it flowers as well.

AnneKipankitoo · 17/06/2022 08:35

Beautiful @Furries.
They have definitely bounced back after the drenching they got last year. 💐❤️

@Furries gorgeous! We planted 5 Gabriel Oak as a hedge this autumn and they are flowering their socks of and the blooms just seem to last and last for ages!

Furries · 17/06/2022 10:32

Thanks all.

@BeaLola I planted them in June 2020, this is definitely their best year yet. You should get some decent blooms this year, make sure to give them a feed after the first flush of blooms (I usually do this early in July). And I feed and mulch early March.

@AnneKipankitoo wow, you have a good memory! Am so pleased that they came back from the battering they took. The David Austin helpline was very helpful and assured me that cutting back the damaged stems in the middle of summer wouldn’t be a problem - I pretty much filled a garden wheelie bin with the cuttings.

@StyleDesperation bet the hedge looks amazing. The scent is gorgeous, though I think after the first week or so I get used to it.

Since planting them, I’ve done their feeds with the David Austin granular rose food. However, it was impossible to find anywhere in time for the March feed this year. I called them and they were advising to use Top Rose feed in the meantime. So am not sure whether it’s down the the different food, or just the fact that it’s now their third summer of blooms, that they’re doing so well.

I love reading these threads and seeing all the photos.

I've got a new planting area in my front garden which gives me, for the first time in my gardening life, a south facing garden. These are the cream of the crop at the moment - Erigeron. I've always wanted to grow them, and have tried a few times to no avail in my gloomy back garden - but aren't they wonderful!

@Sweetpea1532 yes, very well remembered. Thank you. I have compromised slightly on what I plant (the most vulnerable being newly planted plants in flower) but I feel the risk of losing one every now and then is outweighed by the pleasure of seeing gorgeous flowers. These ones are particularly special because my mum grew them in her garden when I was a kid and to me they are just the perfect flower!

WobblyLondoner · 25/06/2022 21:07

@AnneKipankitoo That pink!!! Ker-pow!

This is a dahlia I've had for about a decade, purple gem. I love the shape and the colour.

It's done me well over the years - I've four huge pots of it now from the one original tubor and give away lots of cuttings.

I love your lupins @greenerfingers - that's a plant I've not even tried to grow! (Snails).

WobblyLondoner · 26/06/2022 10:01

@BrownStripePJ Just catching up on older posts - your bee friendly area looks stunning!

WobblyLondoner · 26/06/2022 10:02

Loving the rose pictures. Mine has had its moment of glory sadly (GJ). I might get a few more but not many. I don't think my garden suits them - too dry and shady.

Robin233 · 26/06/2022 18:16

8 flowers - all grown at home.
Original plant bought in October in full flower.

@Robin233 that's amazing. I'm very impressed Smile

@WobblyLondoner wow, you've brightened up London with all your colours. The white front of your home really makes those pink flowers pop. I imagine your neighbours are enjoying passing by the Wobbly front gardenSmile

@Robin233 my mind has taken a holiday...did you plant passionfruit last year and then post a photo of a beautiful PF flower this year?
I've a cautionary tale about proper support of PF vines....once I've processed the disaster I came home to after a 2 week holiday, I will post photos 🤪

Robin233 · 27/06/2022 19:37

Ha ha
Yes that was me.
Currently my vine has been producing many lovely flowers -?
but they only last a few days.
There is 4 on this current picture.
They are stunning.

Lovely flowers

Sweetpea1532 · 29/06/2022 16:25

@Robin233
Are there little light yellow closed leaves where the flowers were? If so, lightly squeeze those and see if they feel a bit solid...fingers crossed, they do, because that means you will be getting a real passion fruit! Please keep us posted!

Photos of my passionfruit cautionary tale..came home to this after a 2 week holiday...I couldn't get my SUV out of the drive...I was the talk of the neighbourhood ...people I have seen in ages dropped by to take a look...funny enough, when asked to help get my suv out, they suddenly had somewhere to urgently go....they even brought their kids by for a lookHmm glad I could be a source of entertainment for them🤪
